Calling parents of deaf children

In 2015, SASSA sponsored a South African Sign Language (SASL) course for parents of deaf children, at a beginner’s level. Those who attended found it extremely helpful.

This year, they are offering the next level free of charge to parents from the Johannesburg area. The training will take place at Wits university from 23-27 May.

This is a truly amazing opportunity for parents to really improve their communication skills with their Deaf children, especially those children who are learning SASL at school. It is essential for families who feel frustrated that they cannot communicate with each other effectively.

Please invite any parent who you feel may benefit from this to contact us, with their full name, contact number and child’s name. Lunch and teas will be provided throughout the course.

To register for the course or for more information, please email biancabirdsey@gmail.com or carla.zille@wits.ac.za
